9 Ways To Chelate Chemicals & Heavy Metals

Last updated on July 11, 2019

How To ChelateIn order to chelate (key-late) chemicals and heavy metals you will need to decide upon which chelation method is best suited to your needs.

Professional medical supervision is strictly advised and I do not endorse the taking of heavy metal chelators without such supervision, or for the purposes of clearing arterial plaque.

The word chelate comes from the Greek word “claw” and chelation therapy is the process where heavy metal ions (molecules) are encircled and bound to the chelating agent. The agent then mobilises the heavy metal ions, transporting them through the bodies usual detoxification pathways (liver, kidneys, gut) to be removed by excretion via the urine and stool.

You can establish whether you have chemical and heavy metals toxicity by taking a hair, blood or urine test to check your heavy metals levels.  Because heavy metals may not always show up on a test results it is important to first understand why this is.

Chemicals and Heavy Metals typically become sequestered in the bodies lipid (fat) cells. Particularly those cells of the brain, nervous system, liver, kidneys, gall bladder, gut and soft tissue and are not always always freely available to be picked up and tested for in the hair, blood or urine.

To get a truer understanding of your bodies full body burden of heavy metals this following test will more likely guarantee that you don’t get negative results despite being toxic with heavy metals.

If you go on a low carbohydrate diet for 8 weeks you will burn off some of the bodies fat cells, this then will release stored heavy metals into the hair, blood and urine where they can then be picked up and tested.

Find out how to make sure your heavy metals Urine Challenge Tests results are accurate before starting chelation by reading:
Are Urine Challenge Tests a Con?

How To Chelate – Considerations

A) Type of Chemicals and Heavy Metals

Whether you need to chelate for example, lead or mercury – will determine which method or product is better suited. I have included a list of chelators below and some are also well adapted to binding with chemicals like hormone disrupting volatile organic compounds (V.O.C.’s) and Pesticides. Pesticides include, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.

B) Location

The efficiency of heavy metal chelators to achieve intracellular (of the cell) and extracellular (outside the cell) cleansing is important.  To chelate chemical and heavy metals you are concerned with removing the toxins from two locations.

Intracellular:

  • Cell wall, where heavy metals become attached to receptor sites “knocking” off the beneficial healthy metals (in the right amount) like iron, zinc, magnesium, copper and manganese.
  • Inside the cell, where heavy metals damage the mitochondria (cellular energy production) and D.N.A.

Extracellular:

  • In the fluid (outside the cell wall) that contains amongst other components: proteins, metabolites and ions.

C) Speed / Dosage

When you chelate you are also concerned with the pace with which this process is carried out.  This is because chelating heavy metals at a too higher rate in comparisons to your liver and kidneys ability to remove toxins is detrimental to your health and can lead to kidney damage or in extreme incorrect dosing, fatality.

I have heard stories where people have either permanently damaged their kidneys and had terrible detox symptoms. (more likely if intravenous (I.V.) methods have been employed at the wrong dosage.

I hear of I.V. challenge tests that administer as much as 3000mg of the chelator over 6 hours, so they can then measure how much heavy metals have been excreted in the urine. I would consider this risky and far too high.

WARNING:  Heavy metal chelation administered by I.V. that is undertaken in a very short time frame – minutes – can lead to heart failure and fatality due to decreases in blood calcium levels.

I would advice caution if you are very toxic, weak, have sensitivities to medications and vitamins.  If you do need to chelate – hold off and take supplements that will support the liver and kidneys first.  I would recommend taking lower levels of the chelator and to chelate over a longer time frame rather than aggressive high dosing over short periods of time.

D) Half Life

The time that it takes for the metal chelator to break down and be eliminated from the body.  If the product has a longer half life – subject to the chelators clathrating, claw like ability to remove more heavy metals per time period – there is a greater ability for heavy metals that are now mobilised from there stores, to be removed before they are re-released and re-absorbed (re-toxification) back into the blood or tissue.

E) Blood Brain Barrier

Consideration needs to be given as to whether the chelator crosses the blood brain barrier in order to pull toxic metals.  The brain is made up of approximately 60% lipid (fat), other major organs as well as those of the hormonal system and nervous system are also rich in fats.  Heavy metals lipid soluble characteristics allow them to be stored in those parts of the body.

F) Amalgam Fillings

Do not use synthetic chelators or cilantro (see below) with amalgam fillings in place. Replace mercury amalgams with porcelain fillings before you chelate.

Heavy Metal Detox – Symptoms

can include but are not limited to:

  • Extreme Lethargy
  • Headaches / Dizzyness
  • Tissue / Muscle / Joint aches
  • Skin Irritation
  • Bleeding Gums
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Stomach Upsets
  • Nausea / Vomiting

In such circumstances it is important to cease chelating heavy metals. Increase the amount of water, chlorella, magnesium and vitamin C and undertake coffee and butyrate enemas to relieve the liver.  (Do NOT do enemas until you have taken butyrate for 2 weeks – Do NOT risk blocking your biliary tree / bile ducts with sludge).  Allow a suitable time for the body to recover – one week or more. It is not a race!

Methods / Products used to Chelate Chemical and Heavy Metals

Natural Chelation Methods

1) High Fats, Low Carb (H.F.L.C.), High Protein Diet:  This is a safe and natural way to chelate chemical and heavy metals.  The results take a longer time to achieve. (I was still showing tiny amounts of the heavy metal lead using the Best Machine computer diagnosis after two years).

The aim is to burn fat cells and dump toxins whilst eating a low carb, high protein diet and to take extra fats (lipids) to help improve the cell wall (membrane) integrity and functioning.

Repairing the cell membrane (wall) removes chemicals and heavy metals that get attached to the cell walls receptor sites.  This enables better oxygen absorption and nutrition and waste disposal at the cellular level. i.e. allow the nutrients to get into the cells and allow waste out.

2) Organic Chlorella:  Green single celled freshwater micro-algae composed of proteins, that binds with chemical and metal toxins and transports them out of the body.  Increases the bodies glutathione output and repairs detoxification pathways.

3) Cilantro:  This is a herb capable of mobilizing mercury, cadmium, lead and aluminum in both bones and the central nervous system. Can remobilise more metal toxins than it can carry risking flooding of toxins into the surrounding tissue as metal ions break free from the cilantro.

4) Wheatgrass:  Primarily composed of chlorophyll, wheatgrass is rich in nutrients, vitamins and amino acids which bind to chemicals and heavy metals and help to chelate them out of the body,

5) Zeolites:  Minerals suspended in water work by the process of clathration forming an attachment to toxic metals and chemicals with stable bonds. This prevents additional reactions with tissues or organs as the heavy metals are eliminated from the body. Research shows clinoptilolite zeolite selectively binds to toxins including mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, radioactive particles, pesticides and volatile organic compounds. The zeolite I recommend has the smallest particle size of any of the zeolites I have seen and therefore the highest detoxing potential. It has also been granted GRAS status by the FDA.

6) Alpha Lipoic Acid:  This sulphur containing amino acid binds with heavy metals such as copper, iron, mercury and cadmium. Being both water and lipid (fat) soluble it has good bioavailability in the body. This can be taken with synthetic or natural chelating agents.

Synthetic Chelation Methods

If you are going to chelate using synthetic chelators first consult with a healthcare practitioner, especially if taking prescription medicines.

The following can be taken either as a suppository, orally or used in an I.V. to be administered over a short time period.

The two products below (D.M.S.A. and D.M.P.S.) I have no experience with as I was put off using them to chelate with by reading www.dmpsbackfire.com

1) D.M.S.A. Dimercaptosuccinic Acid

DMSA is a sulfur-containing organic amino acid compound.  In America it is approved by the  Food & Drug Administration (F.D.A.) for the treatment of lead and mercury toxicity both in children and adults.

DMSA is a compound that has the ability to bind and remove heavy metals.  It can be administered orally and as a suppository.

In a healthy body, there are natural sulfur-containing compounds which perform remove heavy metals.  They include N-acetyl-Cysteine (N.A.C.), R-Lipoic Acid, A-Lipoic Acid, S-adenysl methionine (S.A.M.e), and reduced glutathione (rG.S.H.).

Along with D.M.P.S these two chelators appear to deplete cysteine which is an important amino acid precursor for the cells production of the bodies own natural anti oxidant, glutathione.  (Typically already at low levels in toxic individuals).

2) D.M.P.S. Dimercaptopropane Sulfonate

DMPS is an amino acid.  In America this is not approved by the Food & Drug Administration (F.D.A.).  However in Germany due to it’s safety record it is sold over the counter.  It is regarded as a more potent agent in the removal of mercury.  The potency I believe maybe a reason for problems if the dose is incorrectly administered and too high.

If heavy metals are pulled at too fast a rate they can damage tissue.  As an analogy think of trying to push an orange through a hose pipe!  The orange being the heavy metal toxins and the hose pipe as your bodies eliminative capacity.

Your kidneys and liver can only chelate (or process) so much toxin removal.  Any “flood” of toxins will result in the metals being re-dumped between the liver and the bowel and not completely eliminated.

3) E.D.T.A. Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid

EDTA is an amino acid.  In America this is a Food & Drug Administration (F.D.A.) unapproved drug – due it seems mainly due to marketing claims.

It is more effective at removing heavier metals like lead and cadmium than removing mercury where it is not as effective in breaking the bonds formed between proteins and mercury.  It will chelate in order of the heaviest metal (in the atomic table) to the lightest.

It can be administered by I.V., orally and as a suppository.  In suppository form it is time released and at a gentler, lower dosage (up to 2000mg) than those administered by I.V.’s. Generally regarded as the safer of the synthetic chelators, in the past controversy has been created due to incorrect dosages (I.V. administered) and fatalities.

WARNING:  Synthetic Heavy Metals Chelators do carry risks.  Please consult with your healthcare practitioner before undertaking Chelation Therapy.
Your Health is Your Own Responsibility
.  I believe that it is far more sensible and safe to take a long term approach to chelation therapy (6m to 1yr or longer) using low doses rather than trying to detox too fast in a short time frame using high dosages.

NOTE:  The older you are the less efficient your kidneys will be and so age, amongst other factors, must be taken into consideration when chelating.

As mentioned above misuse can result in kidney damage, a sudden drop in blood pressurelow calcium levels in the blood and heart failure, which could be potentially fatal.  The problem is regarding safe dosage levels versus the time period the chelator is administered over, which is why fast high dose I.V. chelation has caused rare fatalities.

In case of uncertainty take a very small amount – 100-200mg and wait for a week for any side effects before taking anymore.

When you Chelate side effects can include:

1) Upset stomachs, fatigue, headaches, nausea and vomiting.  At my weakest taking EDTA caused extreme tiredness for 2 to 3 days after taking it.  The next day (EDTA was taken overnight) I would also suffer from a mild upset stomach.  These symptoms are to be expected.  I suffered no other side effects.  I have no experience with DMSA or DMPS but similar reactions are possible.

2) Synthetic chelators bind with healthy minerals (e.g. calcium, manganese and zinc) and remove them so vitamin and liquid mineral supplementation is essential whilst doing chelation therapy.

3) Kidney Failure.  There is a risk of overworking the kidneys as they filter minerals that are being pulled by the chelating agent causing possible permanent damage.  Typically when incorrectly administered at too high a dose or without first testing kidney functioning.

4) Sudden drop in blood pressure causing dizziness or unconsciousness.

For the past 3 years I have been suffering chronic fatigue and severe abdominal pain especially at night which feels like trapped wind. My G.P. has put me on Tramadol for FM. Could I possibly have mercury poisoning from my many fillings. I also consume a fair amount of canned tuna. I am a senior citizen and any advise would be so welcome as coping is so difficult.

It’s possible that you may have toxic metals which causes immune system misfunction but first I would suggest you slowly start on a low carb, high protein, (and not all from meat) and high fats diet to alter (reduce) the ratio of bad bacteria to healthy bacteria in the gut. Digestive enzymes will also help as will probiotics.

Hi, I’m interested in buying you book. I’ve been stuck with metals for awhile now. I tried an IV push once and had a bad reaction. Histamine response I believe. I also have to stay away from concentrations of salicylate (greens no good) so that kind of leaves me with zeolite and a really restricted diet. Your diet protocol makes sense to me but a lot of animal products are high histamine. Help?

    Thanks for your time.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | May 23, 2014

      Hi Heather,
The IV pushes can sometimes be problematic and cause swelling in the vein which can be painful particularly if the push is too fast.
My experience, having been allergic to so many foods and put on a lamb, potato and carrot diet, is that it is best to concentrate on detoxing and improving the digestion with probiotics and a high protein and low carb diet. Yes meat is acidic. I produced a recipe ebook that is 2/3rds vegetarian to counter this.

The zeolites that I have written about are I believe the most advanced in the world. This is because the zeolites particle size is smaller than any other product available. This means that it can be suspended within water molecules and it’s able to penetrate into the bodies cells, not just removing toxic metals from the cell wall (where many good metals like chromium, iron, manganese etc are knocked off the cell walls receptor sites to be replaced with toxic metals like lead and mercury for example) but actually removing toxins from deep within the cell. I’m surprised vitamin C isn’t on here as a chelator. Is that because there is not enough supporting evidence, or because you don’t think that it works, or don’t feel qualified to comment on it, or what? I was gearing up to do IV C at home when I found out about liposomal C and now planning to make that at home. What is your opinion on C and metals detox? Thanks.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | November 18, 2014

Vitamin C is important and I do include that in the list of supplements I took in my ebook.
There are far more efficient and stable chelators that I have mentioned in my blog posts: These don’t re-release metals ions whilst in transit out of the body. Using a chelator that “drops” and allows for the redepositng of metal ions defeats the point of chelating.
(Sorry for the delay in answering this got marked as spam.)

    hi Ian ,

can you please tell me which brands of cliantro and chlorella you have taken ?

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | June 19, 2015

Hi Deepanshu, I used the Klinghardt Academy organic chlorella. There are far better and more stable chelators than cilanto as discussed in this blog post – like zeolites. The brand I recommend had a NASA scientist help in it’s development. It has the smallest particle compared to any other brand – a size that allows it to effectively cross the cell membrane. Please see my blog post:

Come one, NASA scientist? They can make mistakes too. Remember the one where they crashed into Mars because they didn’t know the difference between metric and imperial? Don’t get bamboozled like that.

I,m enquiring please, is it possible I may have heavy metal contamination? My face comes from normal in the early part of the day to extremely high flushing in pm or after ahot meal midday, & always late in the day. It becomes extremely un comfortable. I used to be a spray painter auto but have retired 8 yrs ago & it seems to be getting worse ! Be very glad of your help . W H.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | June 19, 2015

Typically any skin reactions (short of infection) can be a symptom of liver issues according to the nutritionist who helped me do the detox. With your work background it is entirely possible there maybe a link although I am not clear why your symptoms are worsening during the day. I would suggest you see your doctor and run tests, particularly liver and immune system function.

i have gold and porcelain crowns to replace mercury amalgam fillings. then, unfortunately was taking protein powder filled with heavy metals, including cadmium. developed ranauds and gout…both affecting circulation in tips of toes and fingers, and beginning of scleroderma. i believe these are all r/t heavy metal poisoning.
i am 60 yo, and had some irregular heart beats…which went away by adding trace minerals. so, i suspect i have both intracellular and extracellular metal poisoning.
other than zeolyte, what would you recommend?

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | January 14, 2016

Hi Wand, The Touchstone Essentials zeolite has one of, if not, the smallest particle size and crosses the blood/brain barrier. I would also recommend organic Chlorella (Klinghardt Academy). The issue with chelation is if the chelator can cross the cell wall into the cell to pull metals out.

  7. Laura Laura December 19, 2015

Hi Ian! Can I chelate effectively only with natural chelators and do they could drop my blood pressure?

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | January 14, 2016

Hi Laura! I prefer the natural approach to the harsher more powerful synthetic chelators. The synthetics can cause problems as I’ve written about here on this web site. Touchstone Essentials Pure Body (good for the gut) and Pure Body Extra (good for the CNS/Brain) will not cause a drop in blood pressure.

  8. Anette Anette December 20, 2015

Hi, question, do you know if it is ok to be on these binders while doing antibiotics? Also have you heard of IMD it is also a way of getting ride of heavy metals thru your gut… If you have I would welcome your thoughts on this.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | January 14, 2016

Hi Anette, Chelating can take up a lot of energy for some people. I would generally advise for anyone detoxing to stop if they have an infection that needs treating with pharmaceuticals like anti-biotics, so as to not over stress the body.

  9. Deana Lawrence Deana Lawrence March 16, 2017

Do you have any recommendation for cheating Silver? I used Mild Protein Silver to heal from Lymes and for many years after had no side effects. I then used a silver throat spray & my face & hands began turning gray/blue/bronze.
Discoloration became worse when I went on low carb, high protein diet. Any help is appreciated!

    • Deana Lawrence Deana Lawrence March 16, 2017

      chelating, not cheating…darn spelllcheck!

I read just that lab tests reveal that zeolites contain Aluminium, Lead, Arsenic and even Uranium.
If this is right why do you sell this product as a drug for detoxing of heavy metalls. If this lab tests are right this drug instead of detoxing heavy metalls feed patients with heavy metalls and even radioactive uranium.
It is probably a smart business for you in this case because dead patients can not complain.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | April 17, 2017

Different manufacturers have different standards and ethics. I am already more than aware of such issues, thank you. Some health products from China have been proven to be loaded with lead. And please take you ridiculous last comment and cynicism about this site elsewhere.

I need help. In 1996, through hair analysis, I was found to be heavily toxic with calcium, Magnesium, bad with iron, Manganese Nickel, Mercury etc. These toxins came from my well water. I went on a program for 9 years called Perfect Balance with a number of vitamin and mineral based compounds to detox. I went fro extreme pain and other problems to no pain and being able to move so freely.

I am now back in horrible pain. I have Peripheral Neuropathy. This is normally in people with Diabetes. I do not have diabetes and other causes in toxins. I have the overall feel of what I had back in 1996.

I want to go on a program similar to what I did before. I am now 65 years old. I have been in severe pain for about 4 years. Please give me an idea of what I can do.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | May 11, 2017

Hi Donna, Sorry to hear about your situation. I would take, take liquid minerals (dependent upon tests) and do a gentle chelation using chlorella and highly effective zeolites, link here:

I would also recommend a sugar free quality protein shake, plenty of quality fats and protein and greens (salad of vegetable, raw or juiced as per the Dr Terry Wahls protocol) and avoid high fast sugar releasing carbs like fruit and grains for at least 3 months (before easing back onto them), ionic sliver (Argentyn 23) to keep any pathogenic activity at bay and read Robert Young’s PH Miracle book. Best, Ian

My doctor has given me EDTA suppositories and dmsa capsules. I thought that the treatment was either or but not both together.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | August 9, 2017

I would NEVER recommend doing both together. I would also recommend doing natural as opposed to synthetic chelators. Depending on milligram dosage those synthetic chelators could put a considerable strain on the kidneys and cause detox reactions and lethargy. Permanent kidney damage is possible. It’s not a race, go at a pace your body can handle/tolerate.

  13. Norma Norma August 9, 2017

Thank you for your reply. When I called him to confirm he said that I needed both because my lead level is three times the accepted range. I’m also being treated with double antibiotics for Lyme disease which he said the toxins were contributing to.

  14. Norma Norma August 9, 2017

    What are natural chelators?

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | August 10, 2017

The natural chelators are listed above in this blog post. Okay, 600 mg is lower than a lot of EDTA supplements but can still be too strong for some people. For example I took EDTA at 1,500 mgs and it was far too much, I had lethargy for days and the usual detox symptoms, headaches etc. I had to cut them into thirds. Still they really were too strong for me and I stopped and went on to just as effective and more gentle zeolites. Orea by Z-Natural is a good example.

How you cope with the chelators will really depend upon age, physical health, level of toxicity and whether the colon, liver and kidneys are being supported or if you have already done detox/cleanses for these organs which will help increase their eliminative capacity.

Detoxing too fast could result in you flooding surrounding tissue with heavy metals ions if your body is unable to cope with the chelation process/dosage which transports toxins out of the body through the usual channels. That’s why I would always go slowly and avoid any potential damage to the kidneys. You’ll know if you’re going too fast as you will get kidney aches, headaches and the usual unpleasant detox symptoms.

  15. Norma Norma August 9, 2017

EDTA suppositories is 600 mg and the dmsa capsule is 100mg and I am supposed to take two capsules twice a day the day after the suppository

  16. Norma Norma August 9, 2017

And the treatment is once a week

  17. Lisa Lisa October 18, 2017

    Hello,
Can you please expand a little?
How low is low carb? I have hypoadrenia & can’t go into ketosis…. is 100g a day of carbs low enough? 70g? My adrenals cant’ handle me eating less than 90g a day…

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | November 21, 2017

Hi Lisa, it’s really about the ratios of carbs to proteins rather than grams/day. Please see my explanation to Linda’s question (21st Nov 2017).

    Hi,

What’s your take on ALA and the Cutler protocol?

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | October 30, 2017

Hi Bill, I preferred taking natural chelators after my experiences with EDTA, which was too strong. I heard of people taking other protocols like Cutler’s and getting a lot of lethargy and even kidney aches. A natural chelator like Orea (zeolites) drops are safe and highly effective. (I have no financial links with the company).

  19. Martin Martin October 30, 2017

Hi , I also read Cutlers protocol, and was not sure about synthetic chelators. So with zeolite you don’t have to take it every so hrs.? it will not “drop” heavy metal and redistribute? What about ALA ,would you try that one,and would it have to be taken every 3hrs? I still have one small mercury filling that need to go out(had 14 total).
And started with zeolite spray.I think I feel much better (mainly brain fog/dizzy).
Also drinking moringa+salt drops (alkalizing, plus nutrients) think is really good.I also take lipo vit C other vit, minerals that are in Cutlers book.Taking sauna after zeolite . You think taking zeolite with amalgam still in place ok? Does zeolite cross blood brain b ? I have ASZ nano spray from rna results. Interesting blog about mercury/candida connection. Would some zeolite powder be good to take also? I read it helps intestines clean up big time…..thank you martin

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | November 21, 2017

Hi Martin, that’s right you can take it in one dose (e.g. 10 drops or take 5 drops morning and night if it makes you feel a little tired). It is designed to bind efficiently to any metal ions that it comes into contact with and will not redeposit metals like some more “inefficient” chelators like cilantro for example. ALA or any protein (e.g. a sugar free protein shake like Vianesse) will aid the process of detoxification as will sulphur groups, however they, like taking chlorella, are far slower than specific products designed to remove toxic metals.

Taking professional chelators with amalgam fillings in place is safe. These leak infinite amounts of toxins as we chew. The issue is clearing the years of toxic accumulation in the C.N.S., brain, gut, liver and kidneys (and other organs).

Blood/brain barrier: This is what they are designed to do due to their minute particle sizes.

I don’t have any experience with powders. I think NutraThera’s Orea Clinoptilolite (no financial links to company) is now one of the best products on the market.

      • martin martin November 22, 2017

        Thank you Ian !

  20. Dean Dean March 9, 2018

    Hello,
Firstly i would like to say, great information on this site! Thanks.
Secondly i have been given DMSA and then urine checked. Most heavy metals were below “recommended” doses, except mercury, which was way too high. I had amalgam fillings, and eliminated them 3 years ago, but wasn’t too careful with taking chlorella, nor was a dentist. I have very cold hands and feet in winter, pretty irritated bowel here and then, and some other typical things like lack of concentration,…
I have bought ALA already and would buy DMSA, but something in me talks to me otherwise. I am leaning towards natural products, because that kind of person i always was. I am interested if i can combine ALA, Zeolite (and Chlorella also?) What would be a normal procedure to take all of them ?

    • Dean Dean March 9, 2018

Furthermore , is it okay to use only Zeolite, and why should i use Chlorella and/or ALA with it ?

      • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | May 20, 2018

Yes perfectly okay. Orea Zeolites are still powerfull but much more gentle on the body. Chlorella (or Charcoal) is great at absorbing toxins – along with other benefits – so its great to take when you are feeling lethargic/toxic. In comparison taking DMSA at the same time as the Orea Zeolites just increases the strain on the kidneys and liver as previously mentioned.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | May 20, 2018

      Hi Dean, Thanks!

Apologies for the delay in getting back you (due to family matters).
I would follow your instincts and go natural with the zoelites I have mentioned. They are very effective.

The issue with say, doing DMSA (the Andrew Cutler protocol for example) whilst also combining that with the powerful Zeolites is that you will be putting too much strain on your kidneys & liver.

Both natural and synthetic chelation will be pulling metal ions and excreting them through the usual bodily channels.

Often pulling toxic metals results in initial and temporary flare ups with pathogens, that is until the immune system gets “back on top of the situation.” You may find that you will experience too much fatigue/lethargy/headaches etc.

It’s always sensible to go at the PACE your body can handle. For example when I tried EDTA chelation it was just too overwhelming and I’d be very lethargic and spaced out for the following few days. It litterally knocked me out. That’s a clear indicator that my kidneys and liver were struggling to remove the toxins. There are liver and kidney tonics that can be taken first, before detoxing, like
Livatrex and Renaltrex from Global Healing Centre .com – Note: I have no commerical affiliations with any health product companies).

Hello Ian. A few weeks ago, I took colloidal silver for a while and it intoxicated me. Honestly I do not know why he hurt me, I see that nobody does him harm. Is there a way to chelate the silver? I have bought zeolites, but I really do not know if colloidal silver keeps the positive charge when it is inside the body. I also thought about taking chlorella, but I do not know how it works to eliminate metals. Could you give me your opinion? I am somewhat concerned. Thank you!

Hi Franco, I would only take an ionic silver that has very fine particle size, so that it does not cause toxicity and can easily pass in and out through cell membranes. Something like Argentyn 23 is very good and I have used it on and off for years without problem. As for removing silver I would recommend taking zeolites and chlorella.

I am experiencing silver toxicity as well; I am finding it very difficult to find any information on the subject. Please, did you ever have any success with silver chelation? Would you share anything that you found? I have found a case study where Vitamin E was administered; I have tried that and it has helped some, but I am not cured by any means. My heart is what is effected. The silver I was taking was genuine colloidal, 20 ppm, 80 percent colloidal and 20 percent ionic. The particles have a very large surface area according to the website.

Thanks, Ian. I have taken ionic silver, I think it was ionic because it was transparent. After 14 days taking the silver, I began to feel very bad, visual problems, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, nervous pain, etc. Ionic silver has a positive charge, but when it enters the body, does it lose that charge? I’m asking you, to know if the zeolite will work or not. I would also like to know if chlorophyll could eliminate silver from the body. thank you very much

    Hey!
I’ve been taking 60ml Orea zeolite for every day now and it is almost empty. I have also been taking Chlorella and also Cilantro later. I have seen some progress, but no nearly as much as it is advertised about this zeolite i use. I have experienced some fatigue, very strange head, and so on.

Do you think i should continue to purchase Orea? How long is it needed to complete the detoxification process ?

    Thank you,
    Dean

Is Zeolite ok to use if breastfeeding? Will the killing off (or initial growth) of Candida and killing off of parasites release any toxins that can be passed on to baby?

Also, what’s the minimum age you would use something like zeolite for?

    Thank you!

HI Kris, I’d wait until after you’ve finished breast feeding as I wouldn’t recommend any type of detoxing whilst feeding as you’ll release toxins into your blood and therefore breast milk.

As far as I know Zeolites are safe but best get a medical advise first.

I had a titanium plate for many years and just had it removed. How do I chelate the titanium out of my body? There’s no info on which chelators will remove it.

    • Ian Solley Ian Solley Post author | December 22, 2020

Hi Dee, many apologies for the long delay in replying, (due to family concerns). As I have just commented today to a woman on here with gadolinium toxicity, I would treat titanium as I would any other (heavy) metal and follow the detox protocol I have written about on this blog and in my eBook. Did you see my chelation article? https://www.howtodetoxheavymetals.com/chelate-chemicals-heavy-metals/

The nutritionist I saw is always looking for better chelation products and now recommends this: https://cytodetox.com/
(The nutritionist, nor I, have no financial relationship with the company).

Chlorella and activated charcoal (please take liquid minerals whilst taking charcoal, or generally if tests show imbalances) are also helpful detoxifiers as is intermittent fasting – see Dr Jockers.
